To Change the World Professor Ramos Blog

To Change the World â€Å"You can’t change the world without getting your hands dirty† †Lelouch Lamperouge Chess is a definitive round of rationale, and keeping in mind that war may include a mixed drink contained morals, rationale, law, dread, and decimation, we see a war played also to a round of chess when we investigate the frenzy that is inside the psyche of Lelouch vi Britannia (or his nom de plume Lelouch Lamperouge). We comprehend that the purpose of this exposition is to pass on musings on a causal investigation of a beast, a spoiler cautioning is important. Through liquid narrating and a startling drive, this is the way a dispositioned ruler takes over the world after he is ousted. His techniques, however rough and severe, would be viewed as a round of chess, giving up huge numbers of his own so as to pick up progress in fight, however figuring out how to stay a positive figure to his own subordinates all through his time battling for power. Lelouch Lamperouge is a 15-year-old kid who watched his mother and sister become setbacks to a psychological oppressor assault. His mom, Marianne was executed by rifle discharge while ensuring Lelouche’s sister Nunnally. After scrutinizing his dad for his mother’s passing, Lelouch demonstrated disdain towards his dad for the passing of his mom and the disablement of his sister. Because of his inside and out and obtrusive hatred, Charles vi Britannia, the Emperor, ousted Lelouch and his sister as political pawns to Japan. This was the seed that would unavoidably birth the beast. Lelouch would before long swear â€Å"to devastate Britannia† (Episode 1 Code Geass, 2006) After Lelouch furthermore, his sister were sent, the Emperor sent a torrent of assaults to the island country, effectively overcoming it with the presentation of enormous, mechanical weapons called Knightmare Frames or Autonomous Armored Knights. Japan is rapidly vanquished and rebranded as Area 11. Lelouch and his closest companion, Suzaku Kururugi witness the slaughter, and Lelouch promises to pulverize his father’s realm. These early occasions flash what might get one of the most all around considered and inside and out plotlines in anime. A long time later, Lelouch and Nunnally, who are assumed dead because of the attack of his father’s domain, are covered up in a state of banishment utilizing a distinctive last name. Lelouch stayed calm and took to playing chess and betting with respectable individuals from Britannian culture, while remaining living in the quarters of the Ashford Academy. Lelouch would before long meet his sly accomplice, after unintentionally getting associated with the â€Å"witch† of a young lady and a opposition gathering. The truck out of nowhere detonates, slaughtering just the driver and Lelouch and C.C. experience a Britannian military official, who demonstrates want to slaughter Lelouch and honest regular citizens, with no respect to humankind. Lelouch is out of nowhere offered the â€Å"Power of the Kings†, otherwise called Geass. His left eye presently has a gleaming, winged creature like image that enables him to urge any individual to do whatever her says. He orders the Britannian official and his subordinates to end it all, prompting two or three dozen fighters to abruptly and ceremoniously bite the dust before Lelouch. Abruptly, Lelouch is loaded up with motivation, as he had at last comprehended that he at long last had the capacity to battle against his dad, in the wake of covering up for a long time. Lelouch now had the capacity to start taking up arms against the huge, Holy Britannian Empire, and their degenerate government, beginning with â€Å"Area 11†. He tests his capacities by convincing another military official to give him their Knightmare Frame, in which he persuades a neighborhood fear monger gathering to go along, so as to win a fight he out of nowhere put himself into. In the wake of achievement, Lelouch sneaks into Area 11 Viceroy’s chambers, who is likewise an antagonized sibling of his, killing him, and asserting the new name â€Å"Zero†, pioneer of the new paramilitary power (to Britannians, fear based oppressors) called the Black Knights, whose crucial to ensure the powerless and uprooted Japanese. The young lady, C.C., enables Lelouch to at long last addition retribution for the country he accepted took his family and joy. The movements set into impact from his youth, and circumstantially picking up the capacity to control anybody, prompts his guerrilla strategies. Ever, we see this happen ordinarily. Before oust, Stalin had drive to change Eastern Europe and Russia, in any event, going similar to conflicting with Lenin, who regarded, yet didn't care much for Stalin’s authority. Stalin, much like Lelouch had feelings for just a couple of individuals. It was expressed that the main individual Stalin really minded for was his first spouse, and a short time later, got colder to every other person. This story additionally identify with Hitler, who rose to control in the wake of battling in a war and battling through the brutal governmental issues of Germany at that point. Lelouch was moreover cold and tainted, giving little consideration about who kicks the bucket inside a huge war, and that the entirety of the way to his finishes would be advocated. His strategies for ascending to the top as the world’s most dreaded pioneer, towards the end, makes his history like that of the harshest pioneers we’ve ever observed, for example, Stalin and Hitler, anyway the genuine closures of those two contrast from Lelouch’s genuine heritage in restricting style, in any event inside their aim. With barely any likenesses between these pioneers, could order him as a â€Å"monster that polices the fringes of the possible† (J. Cohen, Page 12, Seven Theses). At the point when Stalin and Hitler passed on, the world saw help. Two cruel and cold pioneers who’ve arranged the slaughter of millions each would become a pox lifted from the Earth. Lelouch’s passing would be viewed as the equivalent, as the two previously mentioned pioneers, anyway his passing would be novel. Before passing, Lelouch had increased such force and was dreaded by the entirety of the world. He arranged his own passing, having his old buddy take his life before billions of individuals who were watching him everywhere throughout the world. The entirety of the disdain Lelouch picked up would be cleared out when he’d be killed on live TV. The world celebrated, and it is accepted the seat would be given to his little sister, who Lelouch had imagined in the first place, to carry on with an actual existence in a world without his father’s rule. He get away and maintains a strategic distance from catch a couple of times, making him fall into the class of the beast hypothesis, â€Å"The Monster Always Escapes† (J. Cohen, Page 4, Seven Theses). The beast was made by another beast. Charles vi Britannia, Lelouch’s father, managed his domain with a hard clench hand, pounding the resistance, and turning into the scourge of the world by different pioneers. He is seen as the prevalent motivation behind why Lelouch would ascend in power, just to in the end triumph over his dad. C.C., who enables Lelouch to force anybody to do anything, would be the encouraging reason, as he would be not able to employ his capacity viably without her. His actual expectation was to leave the world in a increasingly charming state, so his sister could live without the shameful acts, and that’s precisely what he did, though at the expense of his own life. Maybe it would be counterproductive, considering he and his more youthful sister were close, also, his passing would leave her disheartened, however taking the embarrassment and disdain along with him would satisfy his guarantee to her. In spite of the fact that he is viewed as a scourge of the world, to just a couple of special individuals from his staff, he kicked the bucket a saint. â€Å"Fear of the beast is extremely sort of a desire† (J. Cohen, Page 16, Seven Theses) is my undisputed top choice to relate this beast to inside the seven postulations. To at first use the measure of intensity that enables to change the world would be wished by many, for childish or sacrificial reasons. Be that as it may, what makes the finishing hard to witness is biting the dust as a merciless despot in the eyes of your subjects, while just few comprehend the genuine expectation of your own arranged demise, with his final words being, â€Å"I have demolished the world and made a new†, as his sister watches him die. Common Practices in Religion Essay - 919 Words

Common Practices in Religion REL 133 Calvin Habig Keinesha Predium April 20, 2015 What is Religion? The term religion comes from the Latin word ‘religare’ which means to bind. In the world today, there are different forms of religious groups and followings that have unique beliefs and practices depending on their history. It is estimated that there are thousands of religions in the world, including the mainstream religious groups and others that are not known. One of the common characteristics of religious groups is that they all believe in the existence of a supreme being. However, there are those who don’t believe in religion. From a general perspective, religion is commonly defined as the belief in God. This belief, however, is considered as vague as it excludes s ome of the ideas that characterize some religious followings such as atheism. If religion was to be solely defined as the belief in God, what would the other religious groups that either believe in a different supreme being and those of atheism be referred to as? This tendency of generalization is what often causes some misconception that is associated with how religion is defined. Then what is the worldview of religion and how is it defined in different places around the world? There are arguments that religion is not hard to define, but rather it is the people themselves who often create the confusion regarding its definition. According to Heelas (2005), one of the greatest challenges is how to define religion without excluding any religious beliefs or followings in the word today. However, there is a conventional way of defining religion which incorporates the primary fundamentals of religion. The following are the fundamentals of religion; The belief in a supernatural being. Having a good relationship with your family is the key to a healthy living. We need to trust one another and learn to gain respect for a happy future. This is an important part of the process to a healthy relationship because it plays a crucial role in instilling values and teaching responsibilities. For example if there are parents who fought a lot, the child would be insecure towards other people. Another, point is that it helps solve misunderstandings in the family, thus creating a stable unity. Back to text, family relationships was the main theme in the four texts that I have read/watched: Secrets and Lies, The Castle, Good Will Hunting and Not without my Daughter. This has influenced a number of authors and directors to direct to create films that relate to a certain topic of family. This is because it focuses on the family itself, which can have an impact on the audience who may be experiencing this kind of problem in the text. This is shown in the four texts that I have studied: Secrets and Lies, The Castle, Good Will Hunting and Not Without my Daughter. These texts were influenced by family problems and secrets within our daily lives. In the film, The Castle we are able to see what a good family relationship is. One of the greatest challenges we face today is figuring out how to provide the energy that provides for modern society while not burning fossil fuels that will run out and will pollute our planet. Engineering new ways, alternative ways of providing this energy is the professional goal I have set for myself.Currently, I am pursuing a two-year degree in Alternative Energy Engineering. I believe that getting this knowledge will give me the chance to get a good job that will help me make a difference in the world. Mental Health Counseling Essay Example For Students

Mental Health Counseling Essay Mental health counselors work with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat mental and emotional disorders and to promote mental health. They are trained to address a wide range of issues, including depression, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress management, problems with self-esteem, issues associated with aging, job and career concerns, educational decisions, issues related to mental and emotional health, and family, parenting, and marital or other relationship problems. Mental health counselors often work closely with other mental health specialists, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses, and school counselors. (US Department of Labor) To be a licensed mental health counselor a person must have a Masters Degree in counseling or other related field. The program must consist of 60 semester hours and 1000 hours of university sponsored clinical or internship experience. The degree program should be certified by CACREP. A CACREP certified program insures that the program meets examination requirements for licensure. Once completed, one must have two years of supervision and pass national or state examinations to obtain licensure. Licensed mental health counselors have many ethical and legal issues dealing with interacting with clients in a way that leaves them in a better place. It is crucial that counselors act within the boundaries that are set by state laws as well the code of ethics from the American Counseling association. There are issues of confidentiality, understanding whats in the clients best interest, the rights of the client, and using the techniques to best assess the client. It is also important to maintain a professional relationship with clients. A mental health counselor in the state of Florida can expect to earn $22,000 and up. Private practice mental health counselors can earn a considerable amount more settings for mental health counselors may include hospitals, drug treatment centers, educational center, community organizations, state agencies, and in private practice. One of the issues in the future is the tightening HMO policies. HMOs are tightening their restrictions on what they will and will not pay for. Another issue that was brought to my attention was the timeliness in which Medicaid pays. Medicaid has been known to be two to three months behind in paying claims. Problem of Domestic Abuse against Women

Introduction It has been reported that domestic abuse against women is highly prevalent and statistics indicate that one in four women suffer from such issues within the home (Bostock, Plumpton and Pratt 95). Domestic abuse has been described as involving actions such as physical violence, emotional, sexual and financial abuse. Despite the fact that such crimes go largely unreported, domestic abuse forms a significant proportion of all violent crime in the UK (Bostock, Plumpton and Pratt 95).Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Problem of Domestic Abuse against Women specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Despite the risk involved in such abuse the main reason the crimes remain unreported can be attributed due to fears such as financial repercussions, fear of more violence, fear of losing children and their homes (Bostock, Plumpton and Pratt 96). However, despite this reality it has been established that the subje cts often suffer significant emotional and physical effects from abuse in both the short and long term (Bostock, Plumpton and Pratt 106). For this reason it has been observed that many women in abusive relationships tend to make efforts that aim to make them independent of the abuser. Unfortunately the existing health, legal and social resources available to support women do not have alternative strategies other than leaving the relationship (Bostock, Plumpton and Pratt 107). Though the approach has been successful at allowing the women to gain independence and safety, this has been achieved at significant personal emotional and financial cost to both the women and their children (Bostock, Plumpton and Pratt 107). In light of this therefore it is apparent that there is a need to increase public awareness on the fact that domestic abuse is intolerable and unacceptable. Such a statement by extension suggests a need to reconsider how gender is considered in the wider societal context a nd how this supports abuse of women in the home (Bostock, Plumpton and Pratt 108). It is hoped that such an action would be useful in developing a mutually respectful culture and help identify abusers earlier in relationships with the goal of reducing abuse. The impact of domestic violence In the decade of the 90’s domestic violence received considerable attention and shifted from a criminal issue to a social problem and more recently a healthcare problem (Gerlock 373). This is due to evidence that suggests domestic violence may be responsible for a number of health problems in society. This has been supported by data that indicates battered women are more likely to seek health care for stress related ailments than their non battered counterparts (Gerlock 374). It has been reported that upon studying of couples engaged in domestic violence related issues a number of underlying health issues arise. The most evident of these is the fact that the victims tend to suffer from a si gnificantly higher degree of physical injury due to the abuse (Gerlock 383). In relation to this point it has been noted that both the batterer and battered tend to suffer from increased psychological stress. Based on this possibility many victims in such relationships suffer depression which they attribute to the abuse (Gerlock 383).Advertising Looking for research paper on social sciences? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More The above statement is supported by indications that the greatest impact of domestic violence identified by victims was on their mental health. The evidence of this is seen in reports that indicate that as many as two thirds of the victims attributed the depression they suffered to abuse (Gerlock 383). In similar fashion the men in these relationships also reported suffering from anxiety and depression as a result of their actions. The victims and aggressors also mentioned being affected by feelings of shame . In addition to this there were also indications that the abuse was causing cardiovascular problems in both men and women involved in such relationships (Starmer 382). However, the greatest number of complaints in all cases was reported by women or victims and depression was by far the most major mental health issue caused (Starmer 382). The need for early intervention It has been observed that approximately 1.5 million women are raped or physically assaulted at least once annually by a current or former papoose (Lundy and Grossman 297). This fact does not consider that repeat victimization often occurs in such instances which would push this figure to 4.8 million incidents on an annual basis (Lundy and Grossman 297). It is typically assumed that domestic violence is a young women’s issue affects and reduces with age (Lundy and Grossman 297). However, there is data that indicates that the trend is also evident in some older members of society. The behavior of these older vic tims suggests that if the trend is left unchecked abuse may be sustained throughout the relationship. It has been noted that a significant percentage of abused older women did not access some form of counseling to address their situation. It has been reported that only 57% of women aged above 65 attended counseling sessions for spousal abuse. This is a major contradiction when compared to the age group between 18-64 where it is reported that 71% would receive some form of counseling to address the abusive situation (Lundy and Grossman 307). In response to the issues related to abuse some of the services offered include the provision of shelters to provide safety from abusers. In the setting of abuse shelters it has been reported that only 4% of the population is composed of women above the age of 65 (Lundy and Grossman 307). It has been suggested that the services such as shelters appear inappropriate from women of this age group and as such there is a need to identify more suitable approach for these victims. The issue of age is especially important given that the population above the age of 85 may reach 21 million by 2050 (Lundy and Grossman 308). With such a significant increase in the population of the aged it is necessary to have in place appropriate techniques to deal with problems of this age group.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Problem of Domestic Abuse against Women specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More What has been done? Though domestic violence is a serious crime that has the capability of ruining lives, breaking up families and creating a lasting impact it has only been considered a serious crime for the last ten years (Starmer 10). Prior to this the crimes were mainly brushed under the carpet and handled with as minor domestic affairs. Since the change was made in legislation some progress has been made in the handling of these cases in court. The major difference is cu rrently a large number of domestic violence cases in the UK are prosecuted. It is reported that in 2001, the Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) did not even monitor domestic violence cases (Starmer 11). Prosecution of the cases began in 2004 and significant progress has been noted. In 2004/5 the CPS prosecuted almost 35,000 cases of domestic violence and by 2008/9 the figure stands at 67,000 (Starmer 11). The figures from 2009/10 indicate that the number is currently 74,000 suggesting that there has been significant increase in the seriousness given to these incidents. In addition to increased prosecution, the CPS reports that there has been significant progress at a deeper level. Following survey that was carried out on 1247 victims, 73% of the cases studied indicated support for the victim and has led signification reduction in the violence by the perpetrator (Starmer 11). As a result of this there has been a reduction in domestic crime within the country. This is supported by evide nce that domestic violence currently accounts for 14% of violent crime while in 1997 it accounted for 23% of violent crime (Starmer 12). Despite this progress with the cases the CPS still reports that the figure is high and there is need to do more. The above position is because of findings of a recent study which indicate 76% of the victims of domestic violence suffered severe abuse (Starmer 12). The severity of the abuse indicates incidents involving choking, strangulation, injuries, rape and sexual abuse. In light of the degree of violence associated with these incidents one can concur with the CPS that there is still more work to be done. Among the main problems encountered by the CPS in relation to domestic violence cases stems from the fact that in many trials the victims either fail to attend court or retract evidence. This affects as many as 9% of all prosecutions and is serious challenge.Advertising Looking for research paper on social sciences? Let's see if we can help you! Analysis of Intimacy and Terror essays

Analysis of Intimacy and Terror essays Andrei Stepanovich Arzhilovsky was accused of counter revolutionary agitation (Arzhilovsky p.112) as a result his diary was analyzed by the NKVD (Soviet Secret Police) which resulted in Arzhilovskys execution. According to the NKVD the parts of the diary which were underlined showed his counter-revolutionary activities. He writes about his life in jail, his life after his release and his views as well as his fears about the Russian Revolution and the Communist Party. One of the very first things that the NKVD underlined was when Arzhilovsky talked about Grandma Darya telling fairy tale stories to the kids. He states that it is important to treasure stories that are told by older people and that Grandma Darya is someone who should be prized because there arent many people who can remember life as it used to be.( Arzhilovsky p.114) One of the goals of the Socialist parties in Russia was to make people forget about how it used to be. Tradition wasnt as important as a new society with different institutions that revolved around the communist mind set. Arzhilovsky wants those stories to live on and to remind him of the past because he understood that the society was better off without the communists ruling. An important part of Arzhilovskys diary which was underlined and analyzed, was about Arzilovsky trying to get early released from jail. He disagreed with the courts and judges behavior in releasing murderers as well as thieves instead of releasing the people who committed the crime of being counter-revolutionary activists. He mentions that the judge and the prosecutors facial expression changed once they got to him and saw that it was about Article 58. This showed the NKVD that he was against the laws and against the judging of the Socialist Party. Andrei Stepanovich Arzhilovsky states When will they r ...

Why or why not? (4 marks) Answers a. A management compensation contracts is a type of contract that is designed to connect the shareholder’s goals with those of the executives or CEO. ... In order to diminish the costs, contracts are utilized in the alignment of the stakeholder’s interests as well as actions of the two parties by relying on accounting numbers that provide incentive in maximizing shareholders value (Beatty, Ramesh and Weber, 2002, Pp. 218-227). The strong demand for accounting numbers assist in conceptualizing purpose of accounting information the evaluation as well as making decisions on issues of allocating scarce resources. Therefore, there are accounting oriented measures that are formulated to enable manage compensation contracts. These measures are utilized as a cost effective approaches in providing financial incentives allowing management in earning higher remuneration amounts in order to reach targets that have been set by accounting numbers to maximize shareholder interest. For instance, a management compensation contract stating that a director responsible for performance bonuses is supposed to rely on accounting numbers like equity r atios or net profits in order to direct a director’s compensation. This gives the management an incentive of making decisions liable to increase the shareholders value and at the same time trying to avoid NPV investments as well as reducing the consumption. Therefore, it is appropriate to conclude that accounting numbers utilized in compensation contracts assist in reducing agency costs as well as benefit the shareholders. b. The Woolworths Ltd Annual Report 2012 shows clearly that management is compensated by utilizing Sort Term Incentives Plans (STP) as well as the long Term Incentive Plans which constitute 40% of the remuneration offered to the Executive Directors. The STIP is based on accounting numbers like the

BIOS Keeping your PC, secure Setting a password on your BIOS is an excellent way to make your computer more secure. A password in Windows only restricts access to Windows and can be bypassed with a little knowledge; a BIOS password protects the computer from the moment it is switched on. There are two kinds of password that you can set in the BIOS. The first and most important password gives permission to change options in the BIOS itself and is commonly called a Setup password. This is particularly useful if you have stopped the computer from booting from CDs or floppy disks and do not want anybody to change this. This would be protecting my user from unauthorized usages. The other password should be typed in as soon as the computer is switched on, even before the option to enter the BIOS appears a User password. This is the first line of defence you can add to your computer and is very effective. A word of warning about getting too overconfident about these passwords, however. It is possible to reset the BIOS if you can access the inside of the computer and it does not stop someone from removing the hard disk to read on another system. If the files on your computer are secret, consider buying a case that can be locked to stop people from changing these options. Get your boots in order A very useful setting the BIOS allows you to change is how your computer boots. When it first starts, the BIOS looks for a disk containing an operating system to boot from. Usually, this is the hard disk but there may be times when you want to boot from a floppy disk or a CD-Rom. Which drives are checked and in what order is determined by the Boot Order in the BIOS. Changing the Boot Order can make your computer more secure as it gives you more control over how it starts. Even if Windows is password-protected, it is possible for someone to start the computer with a floppy disk or a CD. Alternatively, if you want to stop someone messing around with your computer, you can do so by restricting how the computer starts and make your computer look on your hard drive for an operating system first. Enter your BIOS in the usual way and enter the Advanced BIOS Features screen. You will either see a list of the devices the BIOS checks, or an option to change the boot order. To make our computer more secure we are going to change the first boot device to HDD-0, which is short for Hard Disk Drive 0, or the first hard disk, in other words. Move down to First Boot Device and press Enter to see a list of devices the computer can boot from, Move down to HDD-0 and press Enter again. Changing the boot order for troubleshooting is effectively the reverse of this process. You can load many very good troubleshooting tools from CD or floppy disk. If there are problems with the hard drive, you may need to make the computer look elsewhere first. This might be necessary if Windows has a fault that stops it from loading properly or if you want to boot from the Windows CD-Rom in order to reinstall it. Return to the Advanced BIOS Features screen and change the First Boot Device to the media that you want to boot from. Unlike many other manufacturers that stick to BIOS, MSI often prefers BIOS from AMI. Well, there is nothing wrong as the new AMIBIOS versions, unlike the previous ones, offer a wide range of Setup settings and often show better performance than the BIOS versions from Award. And now lets dwell upon the Setup settings. Memory timings located on the separate page of the BIOS Setup come first. You can see that all the key timings in MSI KT4 Ultra can be modified. Besides CAS Latency, you can change Trp, Tras and Trcd settings as well as DRAM Command Rate, Memory Interleaving and DRAM Burst Length. All the parameters can vary in usual ranges, while CAS Latency can even be set to 1. 5, although we couldnt power up MSI KT4 Ultra with such a CAS value in our test lab. As for hardware monitoring, MSI KT4 Ultra keeps track of system and CPU temperatures, rotation speeds of two fans, processor core voltage and six other voltage values. Of course, MSI KT4 Ultra has something to offer over clocking fans. These tools are listed in a separate BIOS page called Frequency/Voltage Control, and deserve a closer look. Here is a list of options an over clocker receives from MSI KT4 Ultra main board: Â  Bus frequency adjustment. You can set any frequency from 100MHz to 280MHz. Well, the top FSB frequency is just an attraction. The maximum working FSB rate you can set on MSI Ultra KT4 is 233MHz. If you choose a frequency above this value, the bus will actually work at half the desired rate. CPU multiplier adjustment. The range is from 6x to 15x. Â  Manual adjustment of the CPU core voltage. The values available are Auto, 1. 625, 1. 650, 1. 675, 1. 700, 1. 725 and 1. 750V. Therefore, the options here are rather scarce (the regular core voltage is usually 1. 65V). Â  DDR DIMM slots voltage adjustment. The values available are Auto, 2. 6, 2. 7 and 2. 8V. It is also possible to set Termination Voltage (Auto, 1. 27 and 1. 29V). Therefore, MSI KT4 Ultra has every right to boast cool means of memory voltage adjustment. Â  AGP voltage can be set to Auto, 1. 6, 1. 7 and 1. 8V. This would be important for my user because it would let he/she know what facts and settings the BIOS have to offer. After checking all the options in practice, we can state that the entire range of FSB frequencies up to 233MHz is working, that is, the mainboard is stable at any FSB frequency up to 233MHz. Overclockers should really enjoy it and continue the AMDs initiative about raising the FSB frequency of their Athlon XP above 166MHz. But at 166MHz FSB, the memory in MSI KT4 Ultra can be clocked only synchronously due to the restrictions in the VIA KT400 chipset. Moreover, the minimum divisor of the PCI bus thats activated at the FSB rate over 166MHz is 1:5. So, when overclocking the FSB above 166MHz, the system may lose some of its stability because of certain problems with the memory or expansion cards. There is one more unpleasant peculiarity I noticed when overclocking the CPU in MSI KT4 Ultra. This mainboard turned to have no means to reset CPU parameters in case of over-overclocking. So, when the mainboard doesnt start up after a change in BIOS Setup settings, the only way to reanimate the system is to use the Clear CMOS jumper. Practical Components and fittings of a PC Motherboard This is the main circuit board of the computer. The motherboard contains connectors for attaching additional boards. The motherboard contains the CPU, BIOS, memory, mass storage interfaces, serial and parallel ports, expansion slots, and all the controllers required to control standard peripheral devices such as the monitor, screen, and disk drive. A motherboard. Fitting the motherboard The case has a slide-out tray, which provides a very elegant way to install the motherboard and all of its components. Cheaper cases will have a mounting case plate fixed permanently to the case. If I had that type of case, I would first lay the case on its side. Next, I screw in the spacer mounts for fixing the motherboard as seen in the photo above. There are usually more holes drilled in the mounting plate than you actually need. There are standard locations for these holes on the mounting plate, which correspond to the holes on the motherboard. How many of these are actually used depends on the board manufacturer. Fitting the Hard disk Photo of a Typical Hard disk The hard drive is secured with four screws, usually the coarse thread type, and the end of the drive with the connectors must point towards the inside of the case. There are usually a couple rows of holes in the cage, make sure the holes you pick let the screws clear the opening at the front of the case when you put the cage back in. Normally, the second set from the cage bottom is used The Ribbon Cable Always install the ribbon cables before replacing the drive cage in the case. As the cage is being installed back in the case, you can see that the ribbon cable is already connected to the floppy drive and has been fed through the opening prior to sliding the cage in. Note also the position of the screws securing the floppy drive to the cage, all the way forward in the slots, which is the norm. The hard drive is mounted in the second set of holes from the cage bottom. Do not forget to reinstall the screws back in the cage, even though it snaps into place. The CD drive has already been installed in the top bay of our mini-tower, though you can wait until after you restore the plastic faceplate to the case, particularly if you are not sure which set of screw holes will align the drive flush with the cover. The ribbon cable has been installed on to the motherboard; with the red key wire in the ribbon towards pin one on the connector.

Analysis of Two Kinds by Amy Tan :: Two Kinds, Amy Tan

Analysis of Two Kinds by Amy Tan In the story â€Å"Two Kinds†, the author, Amy Tan, intends to make reader think of the meaning behind the story. She doesn’t speak out as an analyzer to illustrate what is the real problem between her and her mother. Instead, she uses her own point of view as a narrator to state what she has experienced and what she feels in her mind all along the story. She has not judged what is right or wrong based on her opinion. Instead of giving instruction of how to solve a family issue, the author chooses to write a narrative diary containing her true feeling toward events during her childhood, which offers reader not only a clear account, but insight on how the narrator feels frustrated due to failing her mother’s expectations which leads to a large conflict between the narrator and her mother. By stating how other people behave or interact, the author offers a great chance for readers to interpret fairly for themselves what the reason for any conflict may be, or the nature of any essential contrast between the narrator and other adults in the story. In the story, there are many self-righteous opinions from people, which seem to be ironic to the readers; For example, her mother’s aggressive attitude of showing off her daughter, her piano teacher’s self-praise claiming him as â€Å"Beethoven.† All of the narrations including conversation clearly depict a different characteristic between the narrator and other people. For instance, a conversation occurs between the narrator and her mother when the mother criticizing a girl who seems similar to the author on TV which reveals dissimilar understanding for both of them to each other’s behavior. At first, the daughter speaks out for the girl by questioning her mother by saying â€Å"why picking on her [†¦] She’s pretty good. Maybe she’s not the best, but she’s trying hard.† The daughter actually is defending for herself and reflecting that she feels uncomfortable with her mother’s disregard of her hard work. She wants to get her mother’s compliments instead of her criticisms. However, her mother response of, â€Å"just like you,† and, â€Å"not the best. Because you not trying.† Here, her mother doesn’t really answer her question, instead wants her put more effort on trying, neglecting how much she has tried before. However, in her mother’s perspective, she has never tried hard enough. By narratively stating the conversations she has encountered, readers perceive a strong implication of the reason for a future conflict between her and her mother.

Letter of Advice on Communication Essay

I am honored that you would seek my advice on communication in your relationship. There are many components to good communication, many think that good communication comes naturally. The fact that we have been communicating all of our lives does not mean that we do it well. (Sole, K, 2011 ch1. 1). Communication is complex, it requires many skills and you must be willing to not only practice these, but also continue learning to improve these. There can be many issues while learning to communicate effectively. In order to help you in your quest for knowledge I will go over a few important things I think you should know about interpersonal communication. This advice should help you in your lives together. When it comes to a healthy relationship, effective communication is the cornerstone on which you build it. If you cannot communicate properly, it will have effects in your personal life. When it comes to relationships, effective communication is the most important skill that one can learn. Explain principles and misconceptions in effective interpersonal communications It is important to realize why we communicate. We communicate for a reason. The primary goal of communication is to share meaning and to connect with other people. Understanding these human needs and communication purposes is essential to success as a communicator. (Sole, 2011) There are many purposes for communicating. One of the most basic purposes is to meet personal needs. Humans are social animals; we need to interact with one another. Another purpose is to learn about yourself and others, this is a process that you must continue well into your relationship, I will provide you advice on how to do this. The most important purpose in your case is to build and maintain relationships. Effective communication is the glue that will hold your relationship together. There are certain skills that are required to be an effective communicator. Listening skills are essential research indicates that most people spend more time listening than talking, however most people have had little education on how to be an effective listener. Listening requires focus and attention; failure to listen effectively is one of the key causes of miscommunication. People skills are important to communication as well, this skill requires a wide range of skills in itself. You must be able to determine the appropriate self disclosure, which means how much personal information to share with others, assertion skills, collaborative skills, problem solving skills, and conflict resolution skills. Emotional intelligence is another skill that you must learn. This means understanding emotions and expressing emotions appropriately. Appropriate skill selection is another skill in effective communication; this means the ability to recognize communication problems when they arise. The final critical skill is communicating ethically, this means the ability to understand what constitutes ethical communication. I have given you the basics in order to better explain how effective communication will enhance your relationship. Describe the process by which self concept is developed and maintained It is important in communication to realize who you are as an individual. How you carry yourself can reflect in your interpersonal relationships and communications. Your self-concept is made up several components. You may have a physical self concept, how you look. You may have an academic self-concept; I am a good student for example. The first step to develop and maintain self-concept is to find out what your self-concept is. A good way to do this is to take a pen and paper and write I am on it, and then in ten minutes write as many descriptions of yourself as you can. This will help you realize what you believe about yourself. This can be critical to maintaining a healthy relationship. Self concept is best learned and maintained through interpersonal communication. You construct partially your-self concept by choosing to accept or reject what other people tell you about you. Through communication with others you can use words and actions to influence other people’s opinions of you. Recognize how words have the power to create and affect attitudes, behavior and perception When communicating with each other choose your words wisely. Words are powerful tools; the words you use can have multiple intentions and interpretations. Choosing the wrong words can lead to miscommunication and lead to conflict. Your choice of words reflect your attitude to show an example of this to etter explain the concept, if you work with someone who is particular about things, if you like them you would call them detail oriented, if you don’t you might call them picky or fussy. (Sole, 2011) Both terms have the same meaning, however one has a negative connotation, the other is positive. The words you choose to use will also have an effect on perception of the person you are communicating with, if you realize this it may save a lot of miscommunication conflicts. Evaluate the proper level of self-disclosure in relationships It is important to keep your personal communication going. This means you have to have quality communication beyond about who is going to pick up the kids, pay the bills, or call the grandparents. (Schoenberg, 2011) You have to have quality communication. If you plan to get married and live together for a lifetime, you must continue to show interest and learn about one another. Ask each other random questions, tell your spouse you fears, feelings, doubts and perceptions with each other. Researchers have linked self-disclosure with marital satisfaction. That is why self-disclosure is key to your relationship, you have to take the time for quality communication. Identify barriers to effective interpersonal interactions If you practice your communication skills you can avoid most barriers to your interpersonal interactions. One thing to keep in mind is that researchers found that most couples think that they communicate better than they do (U. S. News and Report, 2011). If you are close in your relationships you may assume that your spouse automatically understands what you mean when you say something. If you say it’s getting hot in here when you are cold, your spouse may think that you are making an amorous advance and may not go turn up the temperature in the house. You must be patient when things like this happen as well and remember that effective communication must be worked at and does not automatically happen. When it comes to relationships effective communication is the most important skill you can learn to keep your relationship alive. If you do not communicate effectively, it can lead to conflicts. These conflicts can cause couples to break up. If you continue to practice your communication skills, you will have a higher chance of having a happy marriage. Good luck and congratulations on your engagement.

Ethical Implications Of Slut Shaming - 1523 Words

Taylor Durand Slut Shaming Introduction To the Term â€Å"I mean did you see what Rachel wore to the party last night? Total slut.† â€Å"Don’t you worry about adding too many notches to your belt?† â€Å"How many people have you slept with really?† â€Å"You’re definitely getting into trashy territory Rachel.† Many times I have heard variations of these quotations being said throughout my life. The real trash is policing someone’s sexuality. Slut is a derogatory term used to degrade women’s sexuality. In this text I will outline the problems and the harm that slut shaming bestows on women and their sexuality. Slut shaming is detrimental to women’s psychological morale, her political standings, and her role and power in society and relationships. In order to better understand slut shaming, an explanation as to why it is a phenomenon in today’s society needs to be given. One of my biggest concerns is the fluid usage of the word slut or whore. This phenomenon of slut shaming is mostly seen with teenagers and young adults and thus this is the group I will be focusing on. Young women and men seem to define a â€Å"slut† differently. Women define a slut as 1. A woman who is sexually active, 2. A woman who wears a lot of makeup, 3. A woman who dresses suggestively, 4. A woman who, despite her unpopularity, tries to get the attention of boys, 5. A woman who is assumed to be sexually advanced because her body is more developed, 6. A woman who flirts with other girl’s boyfriends or has a lot of guy friends.
